Passengers on the iconic Queen Elizabeth cruise liner will enjoy a commemorative royal wedding dinner inside the ship's Britannia Restaurant
Well-heeled royalists cruising the Mediterranean would rather walk the plank than miss out on the royal wedding. So Cunard Cruise Lines, whose iconic fleet includes the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria, and Queen Mary 2, has planned on-board activities to keep passengers from jumping ship.
On April 29—as the Victoria crosses the Med, and the others cross the Atlantic—they’ll each broadcast the wedding ceremony live in their 800 to 1,000-person capacity Royal Theaters. Passengers will also be privy to a commemorative royal wedding dinner menu full of posh nosh like “Roast Rack of Gloucester Old Spot Pork” and “Black Truffle and Guinea Fowl Confit.” And they can wash it all down with a “Princess Royale” cocktail: strawberries, raspberries, Framboise Sauvage Grand Reserve, Crème de Mure, and Armagnac Sempe Napolean—all topped up with Brut Champagne. Just like Wills and Kate, guests will finish their meal with a slice of multi-tiered fruit cake decorated with cream and white icing.

“Our passengers are likely to have an above average interest in the pageantry of a royal wedding,” Peter Shanks, Cunard’s president and managing director, said in a statement. “We intend to cater for that and ensure they do not miss one minute.”
Even if their passengers knowingly boarded a ship named after a monarch, the liners would be wise to pack a few royal wedding sick bags. As any anti-royalist knows, the symptoms of sea sickness and wedding fatigue go hand in hand. (via Cunard)
