Former cast members of the popular television show Happy Days claim they’re still owed merchandising revenue for their roles on a show that ended in 1984 after airing successfully for a decade. (via CNNMoney)
The actors and actresses say that their contracts grant them a portion of net proceeds from any form of merchandising that uses their image. According to four cast members and the estate of a fifth who died last year, CBS still owes them money for merchandising endeavors.

Though their likeness has been featured on all sorts of Happy Days paraphernalia, actor Anson Williams told CNNMoney that what incited them to investigate the issue was the use of their images on slot machines launched in 2008. Their attorney, Jon Pfeiffer, filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit Tuesday after earlier mediation attempts did not yield a solution.
According to CNNMoney, the actors claim they’re owed millions but CBS says they deserve only $8,500 to $9,000 each. For these stars that face a looming legal battle, happy days are here no more.
