On The Daily Show Wednesday night, Jon Stewart responded to Fox News’s extensive criticism of rapper Common’s invitation to perform at the White House. In response, Stewart busted some rhymes of his own.

After Michelle Obama announced that Common would be featured at a poetry event Wednesday night, many conservative pundits said he was too offensive and inappropriate to be featured at an arts education event celebrating American poetry.

Stewart ridiculed Fox’s outrage, calling them irrational and hypocritical. “This two-time Grammy-winning, vegetarian’s invitation to the White House has the twit-i-verse very upset,” Stewart said. “I don’t mean people on Twitter, I mean twits.”

During the episode, Stewart revisited the issue of political rhetoric and closed with his own unique freestyle rap. The lyrics, directed at Fox News, probably will not meet the approval of the pundits any more than those of Common did. “You’re pigeons on a statue, leaving little puddles of lies behind you,” the comedian-turned-freestyler rapped.
