The Human Centipede, Tom Six’s 2010 biological horror film, startled audiences with its gripping tale of a mad doctor who sews humans to one another via their gastric system to create the first “human centipede.” For viewers who didn’t get enough gory details the first time around, a sequel is emerging. But don’t go to the United Kingdom for a viewing; The Human Centipede II will not be playing.

By denying the sequel a 18 certificate (roughly the British equivalent to an NC-17), the British Board of Film Classification has banned the movie. The BBFC refusal means it cannot be legally supplied anywhere in the UK – even on DVD or download.
“There is little attempt to portray any of the victims in the film as anything other than objects to be brutalized, degraded and mutilated for the amusement and arousal of the central character, as well as for the pleasure of the audience,” says the BBFC, according to CBS News.
The sequel will be released sometime in the United States in 2011, but check it out at your own risk. The Guardian reports that the British board fears the film “poses a real, as opposed to a fanciful, risk that harm is likely to be caused to potential viewers”.
