As Alec Baldwin weighs whether or not to run for mayor of New York City, his comedy is set to run for best flavor of ice cream ever.
Saturday Night Live alumna Ana Gasteyer told NY1 that Ben & Jerry’s is planning to release a “Schweddy Balls” flavor of ice cream for the upcoming holiday season. In the interview, which aired last Friday, Gasteyer reflected on the enduring popularity of the sketch that was meant to lampoon National Public Radio, but came to be known for Baldwin’s epic character.

“It was a very popular sketch while I was on the show, but Alec has become such a huge star since, and he’s actually told me that of all the things he’s ever done in his career, the schweddy balls is the thing that has resonated,” Gasteyer said.
But the skit, which also starred fellow SNL alumna Molly Shannon, will soon move from the realm of comedy history to that of holiday consumerism.
“It has this crazy, massive popularity that’s kind of had a half life since I left the show,” Gasteyer said. “Ben and Jerry’s is coming out with a schwetty balls ice cream for Christmas this year.”
Bowery Boogie reported that “Schweddy Balls” would be hitting a frozen treats aisle near you in September and would be sold throughout Christmas. But a Ben & Jerry’s representative who spoke with Gothamist would neither confirm nor deny the flavor, saying “we like all of our new flavors to have an element of surprise.”
