Want your own magic wand, Harry Potter style? J.K. Rowling might be able to help you with that.

Muggles across the Internet have been buzzing ever since a mysterious site, Pottermore.com, was launched with a simple “Coming Soon” message and a YouTube countdown. No one is exactly sure what the site will bring, though some had speculated it will be an encyclopedia explaining all aspects of Potter’s wizarding world. The site is expected to launch tomorrow morning, but secrets may be leaking from Pottermore headquarters.

The Times U.K (behind a paywall) reports that they mistakenly received a marketing memo that discussed the project. The materials seem to suggest that Pottermore is “a sophisticated online game that contains clues to prizes that are hidden in the real world.” The prizes may be magic wands, hidden in the U.K, the U.S. and potentially other countries. The Independent reported it also received a memo that detailed the site’s public relations strategy, and the memo mentions releasing figures about “how many wands have been physically laced and found.” And The Atlantic points out that the “treasure hunt” will be overseen by a PR company that represents games like LittleBigPlanet 2.

The Times makes sure to note (and PaidContent agrees) that the “leak” may just be a savvy marketing ploy by the people behind Pottermore. This very well may be the case, and the whole “leak” could be a trick to veer fans in the wrong direction. But either way, NewsFeed has a feeling that die-hard fans will eat Pottermore up, no matter what the site has in store.
