Once upon a time, you were born, you had a childhood and then began to live your life in earnest. If David and Victoria Beckham are your parents: not so much.

Within a week of making her grand entrance on planet earth, Harper Seven Beckham’s devoted parents have plastered pictures of their fourth child (and first daughter) on Twitter and Facebook.

Victoria got in on the act first (sensibly taking advantage of David playing soccer for the LA Galaxy against Spanish side Real Madrid) by tweeting to her 1.5 million followers an artful black and white shot of dad and daughter, with the caption, “Daddy’s little girl!”

Not to be outdone, David’s comeback (or equalizer, if you will, now that we’re all soccer fans thanks to the U.S. women’s team) came via his Facebook page.  Sticking with black & white (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Unless your camera is broke, in which case you should get someone to look at it because you might like to take color photos at some point), his revenge was indeed sweet. “I took this picture of my two girls sleeping.” How do they get away with it? It’s as if they don’t even talk to each other!

But NewsFeed is taking the Beckhams more seriously in light of recent events. Never mind these tasteful images, David has also confirmed that Harper was named after To Kill A Mockingbird author Harper Lee. “Victoria’s favourite book is To Kill A Mockingbird, it’s a very strong, passionate book and the author was Harper Lee, and that is where Harper came from,” he explained.

And as for that mysterious middle name? “It symbolizes spiritual perfection — the seven wonders of the world, the seven colors of the rainbow — and in many cultures it is a lucky number.”

We don’t doubt it for a minute but, if we may be permitted, we can’t help but think that the Beckhams are closet Seinfeld fans. Because you can talk up spiritual perfection all you like, but it doesn’t get more spiritual than one George Costanza. Don’t believe us?
