Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian attend a fashion launch party on August 17, 2011 in Hollywood, California.

Let’s face it: this is America’s version of the Royal Wedding.

The millionaire socialite and the basketball star exchanged vows and partied into the night at a lavish estate on the California coast north of Los Angeles. If that doesn’t sound like a fairytale movie script, we don’t know what is.

The 30-year-old Kardashian wed New Jersey Nets star Kris Humphries, 26, in the lavish Saturday evening ceremony at an estate in Montecito, Calif. As Kim walked down the aisle in an ivory and lace Vera Wang gown (reportedly worth $20,000), the couple no doubt saw stars. That’s because the 440-strong guest list was studded with celebrities. Aside from the sprawling Kardashian family tree (her sisters Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian both served as maids of honor), dozens of A-listers from L.A. turned out, including Eva Longoria, Lindsay Lohan, Ryan Seacrest and Carmelo Anthony.

The classic wedding service was followed up with an old-Hollywood-style black-and-white ball. The catering? Wolfgang Puck. Musical guest? Earth, Wind & Fire.  We needn’t say any more.

Indeed the nuptials played out in the same extravagant style as April’s Royal Wedding. But is it possible that’s exactly what Kim was trying to emulate? After all, her cake was reportedly designed in the same fashion as the one served at the ceremony for Prince William and Kate Middleton. The New York Post reports that the guests munched on a $15,000, 10-tiered wedding cake with chocolate-chip icing and black and white decorations – and get this, it was taller than Kardashian herself, who stands just 5’ 2”.

Kardashian and Humphries announced their engagement in May after dating for just six months. It’s a bold step for Kardashian, who often discussed her dating troubles on her show, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” and was already married once to music producer Damon Thomas.

The Kardashians granted exclusive access to PEOPLE (TIME’s sister magazine) and TV channel E!, who will indeed turn the wedding into the stuff of legend on a special called “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding.”
