A Brazilian condom company has started a viral marketing scheme in which they randomly select men on Facebook and create a fake profile of their unborn sons. The son then sends a friend request to the soon-to-be freaked out guy with a little message that says “Avoid surprises like this one. Use Olla condoms.”
NewsFeed gives the company points for creativity. However, this seems quite labor-intensive for viral marketing. Then again, we’re still struggling to manage Facebook’s changes on our own accounts. We can’t imagine navigating accounts for thousands of unborn baby ads.
