Though there were jokes that Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s child, already the most famous baby in the world, would come out of the womb rapping and singing, no one expected it would actually happen this fast.

Jay-Z released a song on his website welcoming his baby girl to the world (born on Saturday, Jan. 7) entitled “Glory,” featuring “B.I.C.”—or Blue Ivy Carter herself. Hov samples the cries of Blue at the end of the track, making her the youngest kid officially in the rap game.

The lyrics are sweet and straightforward, and Jay sounds mostly in awe at the whole thing : “Most amazing feeling I feel, words can’t describe the feeling for real./ Baby I paint the sky blue, my greatest creation was you, you. Glory.” Produced by Pharrell, it’s not a grand, bombastic club-banger, but rather a snippet of introspection from the new dad.

Calling her “the most beautiful-est thing in this world,” we learn that she was conceived in Paris, pushing her “swag” quotient even higher. Jay-Z also reveals the anxiety and fear he had of losing her: “False alarms and false stops, all made better by the sound of your heart/All the pain of the last time, pray so hard it was the last time.” Later in the song he reveals, “last time the miscarriage was so tragic/ we was afraid you’d disappear but nah, baby, you magic.” Though there are reports that this is a reveal about a previous miscarriage for Jay-Z and Beyoncé, he might actually be referring to an unfortunate loss with an old girlfriend back in 1994. On his song “This Can’t Be Life,” from his fifth album, he references the miscarriage and writes about it in his 2010 book Decoded.

But, “Everybody goes through stuff/ life is a gift, love/ open it up,” Jay tells us. As much as we enjoy the triple-meaning  wordplay on some of his best tracks, it’s refreshing and heartwarming to see the rap giant humbled and joyous by  his creation of life. Glory, glory, glory, indeed.
