In a new campaign ad funded by the Colbert Super PAC, now known as The Definitely Not Coordinating With Stephen Colbert Super PAC, South Carolina voters are encouraged to support…former GOP candidate Herman Cain.
“He’s such a Washington outsider, he’s not even running for president,” the ad boasts of Cain, while showing images of Colbert with an arrow identifying himself as the pizza executive. Of course, Cain is no longer running, but he remains on the ballot since he filed before dropping out, giving Colbert the perfect target for his latest gag.

Last week, the Colbert Report host taunted Americans with a possible run for “President of the United States of South Carolina” following a hypothetical poll that placed him ahead of recent GOP dropout Jon Huntsman. But in order to flirt with a possible run, Colbert was forced to step down as head of his Super PAC, crowning The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart at the helm of the organization.
On Monday, Stewart sent a note and press release to supporters on how he’s settling in as “President For Life Now” of the newly named Super PAC.
Fans will have to tune in this weekend to see whether Colbert’s influence continues, following the results of the South Carolina primary on Saturday, Jan. 21.
