What do you do when 30 dolphins beach themselves in front of you? Pull them back into the water, of course.

Beachgoers in Rio de Janeiro took matters into their own hands to save dozens of dolphins who were suddenly stranded on the sand this week. The rescue mission was all caught on video, captured by a German tourist.

The clip shows a pod of dolphins, who arrived seemingly out of nowhere. Within seconds, a strong tide washed the animals on the shore. The assembled sunbathers held back at first, but soon leaped into the surf to help the flailing creatures, who were emitting shrill calls of distress.

After a few minutes, around a dozen rescuers had managed to pull all the dolphins back out to sea, to the cheers of onlookers.
