Actor Steven Seagal is seen at his hotel to promote his 'True Justice' TV show on October 21, 2011 in Paris, France.

Steven Seagal, the action star you’d only dare mock behind his back, caught some real-life bad guys recently. The actor, best known for his roles in movies like Above the Law and Under Siege, helped catch three illegal immigrants trying to smuggle 500 pounds of marijuana from Mexico into the United States, the Daily Mail reports. The drugs had an approximate street value of $250,000.

Seagal performed the bust after becoming a special deputy with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s office drug interdiction unit last October. As a result of the bust, Jesus Lleyva Castillo, who has a criminal history in Arizona, was taken into custody and booked on a number of drug-related charges. The drug seizure is, of course coincidentally, great publicity for Seagal’s T.V. show True Justice; Seagal is currently promoting its second season. In the series, Seagal stars as an undercover cop, heading a special task force. Perhaps the shift to law enforcement will help boost up his failing career?

“It ain’t what it used to be, it is a lot harder now to be a police officer than what it used to be, but I enjoy it,” Seagal told Fox411, regarding his career in law enforcement. Looks like all those years of fighting bad guys on the big (and small) screen paid off in more ways than just a Razzie nomination.
