A TSA agent is in hot water after throwing a cup of hot coffee on a pilot the morning of March 28, reports the New York Post. The brouhaha started when American Airlines pilot Steven Trivett was leaving the terminal and overheard a conversation between TSA screeners. He suggested that they conduct themselves more professionally and refrain from using profanity such as the n-word while on the job, according to a source from the Post.
After a screener cursed at him and told him to “mind his own business,” Trivett identified himself as a TSA officer and armed pilot. He then attempted to grab TSA agent Lateisha El’s ID badge. She responded by tossing a cup of steaming hot coffee at him.

The pilot was not seriously injured. El faces harassment and misdemeanor charges.
In response to the event, a TSA spokesperson told Gothamist:
“TSA is looking into this incident and will take swift and appropriate action. The unacceptable behavior of a few individuals in no way reflects the dedication of our nearly 50,000 Transportation Security Officers who work tirelessly to keep our skies safe.”
