It’s official: Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are engaged!
“I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam,” the 19-year-old told People.
Cyrus has been dating the 22-year-old Hunger Games star since 2009, after they costarred in The Last Song together. The Australian actor popped the question on May 31 with a 3.5-carat diamond ring from jeweler Neil Lane.
Hemsworth recently opened up about their relationship in the March 2012 issue of Details Magazine.
“What happened happened, and we’ve been together two and a half years,” he told the magazine about falling for Cyrus on the set. “She makes me really happy. When you start, you want to be professional, but when you’re filming those scenes with someone and pretending to love them, you’re not human if you don’t feel something.”

Cyrus is in the studio working on her next album and Hemsworth is currently filming the movie Empire State. No wedding date has been announced yet.
