Carencro, La. resident Carl Jacquneaux, 43, allegedly bit off a piece of a man’s face during an unspecified domestic dispute last weekend, according to ABC-affiliate KATC. As with the infamous Miami face-chewing incident that sparked a spate of Internet-fueled zombie rumors, this attack may have involved the now infamous synthetic drug “bath salts.”

The victim, Todd Credeur, told KATC he was working in his yard when Jacquneaux came up and attacked him. To defend himself, Credeur sprayed wasp poison in the man’s face. KATC reports that Credeur is married to Jacquneaux’s ex-wife.

According to the Shreveport Times, police caught up with Jacquneaux after he showed up at the home of another acquaintance, whom he held at knifepoint before stealing a gun. Earlier that morning, Jacquneaux had visited his elderly aunt, whom he reportedly threatened and physically shoved; he ran off only after her daughter called police.

“It’s very unusual. Not something we see everyday,” said Scott, La., assistant police chief Kert Thomas. Sheriff’s deputies believed Jacquneaux was under the influence of some kind of drug, reported The Shreveport Times, while a friend of both Jacquneaux and his victim said he was using bath salts.

Credeur was released from the hospital and is recovering at his home. Jacquneaux is charged with aggravated burglary, simple battery of the infirm, violation of probation, aggravated second-degree battery and violation of protective orders. He is being held on a $312,500 bond at the Lafayette Parish Jail.
