Looks like you’ll finally be getting that extra time off you’ve been needing. And so will everyone else on earth, thanks to the powers that control when and why your clocks are periodically adjusted. On Saturday night, June 30, exhausted people across the globe will be treated to a grand total of one second added onto the weekend.
Please, don’t scoff. It’s deemed “leap second.” And, according to Reuters, timekeepers add an extra second once in a while so the sun doesn’t eventually set earlier in the day. Which makes sense but seems such like a negligible amount of time for your weekend. NewsFeed, however, is looking on the upside. Think of all the things you could have enough time to do with your very own leap second:
- Click on a link.
- Read half a sentence.
- Type five characters in a tweet.
- Take one last sip of coffee Sunday morning.
- Wake up right before your alarm goes off, saving yourself the blaring tone.
