Authorities said he arrived at the airport drunk, clutching a backpack and a can of beer. When he found no one staffing the airline desk, he climbed onto the baggage conveyor and fell into a deep sleep. He was curled into a fetal position when security found him.

Fiumicino airport police told the Telegraph that the incident was did not represent a security threat,  but is one of many involving “drunks or people with psychological problems.” Apparently, it happens at least once a year.

Once roused, the drunk man was taken to the hospital to be checked out radiation exposure.
