It’s a show best known for “Barker’s Beauties,” the bevy of attractive female models showcasing the prizes on offer.  Soon — for one week only — the ladies of long-running CBS game show ‘The Price is Right’ will be joined by a male associate.

CBS on Wednesday announced its “first-ever search to find a male model.” An open casting call is set to take place in Los Angeles at the end of the month. Hopefuls will first be “tested on qualities such as their verbal skills, posing and ability to properly showcase a product.” Those who pass the initial rounds will then “participate in a series of challenges designed to reveal who has the best on-camera presence and modeling skills”, gradually being whittled down by a panel of judges.

Five episodes chronicling the search will be aired online, building to the reveal of a final six contestants, from whom viewers will get to vote for the eventual winner. He’ll begin his week-long stint on on the show on October 15.

The moniker “Barker’s Beauties,” is named after Bob Barker, who hosted the show from its 1972 revival until his retirement in 2007, when current host Drew Carey took over. Since the 1990s, however, Barker has faced accusations of sexual harassment and wrongful termination by several of the show’s models — most of which were settled out of court — giving the term some unfortunate connotations.
