It’s sure been a while since Will Smith was “chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool,” on his throne in Bel-Air, but the former Fresh Prince star hasn’t lost his touch: Smith revisited his freestylin’ days at a 40th birthday party for a friend, MTV reports.
The former rapper turned very famous movie star attended Gabrielle Union’s celebration in Miami where he surprised the birthday girl with a performance alongside 1980s rap superstar Doug E. Fresh, who broke it down on the beatbox.

Rather than rapping about his folks as he did 1988’s “Parents Just Don’t Understand,” a now grown Smith invoked Sun Tzu, proving that his lyrics may have evolved since his rap career launched. A more complex verse included the line “my mind’s the only boundary from what I wanna be.” But that’s not to say that Smith didn’t also hit up some old classics, including he and DJ Jazzy Jeff’s 1991 hit “Summertime.” He wrapped up the set with a fresh take on the 1990’s theme to his hit television show The Fresh Prince of Bel Air to an enthusiastic crowd.
In another clip, Doug E. Fresh dropped the beat to Cali Swag District’s “Teach Me How to Dougie,” and demonstrated the signature dance he invented in the 1980s alongside Slick Rick when they were in the Get Fresh Crew.
“Wow. Epic night. Fresh prince and Dougie Fresh just shut it down,” tweeted Dwayne Wade, Miami Heat star and Union’s boyfriend.
