Queen Elizabeth II embarks from Chelsea Harbour on the first part of their journey during the Diamond Jubilee river Pageant in London, June 3, 2012.
This one certainly seems like a no-brainer. The perennially popular name has statistical preeminence (A British bookmaker has set 8 to 1 odds that Will and Kate’s daughter will be named Elizabeth), as well as obvious familial significance (see: Queen Elizabeths I and II and countless other British and European princess). Middleton also has an attachment to it — Elizabeth is both her middle name and her great-grandmother’s name. All of this, plus its general popularity (it ranked as the 44th most-popular female name in the UK in 2011), makes ti a strong candidate for a couple that has both a respect for tradition and a reputation for modernity.
