If Kate and William are keen on the middle name idea, and wind up having a boy, dad can always look to himself for inspiration. William has no fewer than three middle names, Arthur, Philip and Louis, with Louis currently seen by the bookies as being the most likely among them of being picked. In royal terms, however, it’s generally more associated with French monarchs (Louis XIV, for example, whose 72-year reign between 1643-1715 is one of the longest in European history). But it’s still a Christian name that crops up on a regular basis (comedian Louis C.K. would surely be delighted to share his name with the future King of England). As for the French, well, just think what the choice will do for the two nations’ entente cordiale.
