In the battle for the title of best dog breeds, it's the big guys who came out on top this year. Take a look at the pups who nuzzled their way into the American Kennel Club's most popular list for 2012.
9. Rottweiler

The Rottweiler moves up on the AKC list this year, and for good reason. This breed can be silly with its family, but protective against strangers. The Rottweiler loves to have a job to do, which makes the breed a favorite for service and therapy dogs.
