An unexpected (but totally welcome) side effect of the ongoing political fracas surrounding Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s recent trip to Cuba: a brand new Pitbull track. That’s right, Mr. Worldwide — who’s got two Cuban parents and a whole bunch of Cuban pride — has weighed in on the matter. In his new freestyle, Pitbull has offered his support to Jay and Bey, who celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary on the Caribbean island.

Several GOP Republicans criticized the couple’s trip and questioned whether they had the proper government clearance to travel there. U.S. Treasury officials later confirmed that the trip was licensed as an educational exchange, but the controversy still persists. Jay-Z had addressed his critics with a song called “Open Letter,” in which he rapped:

“Boy from the hood, I got White House clearance… Politicians never did s— for me except lie to me, distort history… They wanna give me jail time and a fine. Fine, let me commit a real crime.”

And now, Pitbull has released his own song —with the same title.

“Politicians love to hate  you / But then they run away when it’s time to debate you,” the Miami-born entertainer raps. “Question of the night / Would they have messed with Mr. Carter if he was white?”

In his “Open Letter,” Pitbull also addresses the contemporary Cuban political situation and his hope for the country’s future. He raps, “It’s the freedom that we ride for / It’s the freedom that we die for / C-U-B-A / Hope to see you free one day.”
