The dating news website YourTango explains the dos and don’ts of broadcasting relationships on Facebook using the example of Alice and Timmy, a couple living in the 1950s. The two have been “going steady” for six months, but one day, Alice logs on to the “electric friend generator” and discovers that her “real swell” guy has changed his relationship status to “single.” Gee, whiz, right? Then she tries to get revenge. You’ve got to love the irony of watching two characters —who live in an era where most Facebook behavior would be considered taboo — use a platform where virtually nothing is off limits and TMI (too much information) is rampant. The video has been watched more than 1.8 million times.
Sad-But-True Line: “Rule number one of Facebook relationship etiquette: don’t change your relationship status without consulting the other person. What a dope!”
