The Honeycomb Vase “Made By Bees” by Tomáš Gabzdil Libertíny
When Slovakian-born artist Tomáš Gabzdil Libertíny set out to make a honeycomb vase in 2006, he enlisted the help of some obvious collaborators—bees. Libertíny built a vase-shaped scaffold in his studio and then let his 40,000 apprentices do their thing over the course of a week. Today, The Honeycomb Vase “Made By Bees” can be seen at MoMA and it provides a perfect symmetry to a natural phenomenon: producing beeswax requires flowers and a vase is meant to contain them.
