The rock musician, a model train enthusiast who owns part of Lionel Trains, has a barn for his collection: 3,000 square-feet of trains and tracks, with two old train cars parked behind the structure. His two sons have cerebral palsy, and to make it easier for them to operate the set, he invented a special wireless remote-control paddle that allowed the boys to power the trains by leaning their heads into it, according to a 1993 article in Classic Toy Trains magazine. Young also helped develop an advanced sound system to make the locomotives sound more realistic.
