A vintage lock of Mick Jagger’s just hair sold for £4000 in London. How does the price compare with famous follicles from Elvis, Beethoven, and Bieber?

You can’t always get what you want, but one devoted Rolling Stones fan sure did—an unnamed buyer paid £4000 (roughly $6100) at a London auction on Wednesday for a lock of Mick Jagger’s hair from the early 1960s. Although the strands have not been DNA tested, the hair has a solid provenance—it was offered for sale by Chrissie Shrimpton, younger sister of model Jean Shrimpton, who dated Jagger. "Unbeknown to her at the time, this lock was saved by her grandmother when Mick and Chrissie were staying at her parents' farm," Bonham’s auction description noted. "Apparently, on her grandmother's death, the hair passed to Chrissie's aunt and when she died, the hair was returned to Chrissie by a cousin taking care of personal effects." The classic rock lock also comes with a paper envelope and a handwritten note that reads, “Mick Jagger’s hair after being washed and trimmed by Chris at Rose Hill Farm.” So at least it’s clean.
