There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles last night when Glee star Lea Michele dedicated her Choice TV Actress award to co-actor and late beau Cory Monteith, who was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver, British Columbia, on July 13, after overdosing on heroin and alcohol.

In her first public appearance since the tragedy, Michele — wearing a necklace that said “Cory” — thanked fans for their support over the past month: “We were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart. So whether you know him personally or just as (his ‘Glee’ character) Finn Hudson, Cory reached out and he became a part of all of our hearts.”

Behind her, “Cory Monteith: 1982-2013” flashed on a screen, along with a photo of the actor, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Season 5 of Glee premieres Sep. 26 on FOX, and Monteith’s sudden death is supposed to be addressed in the third episode.
