New Orleans bounce rapper Big Freedia performs during the 2012 Hangout Music Festival on May 20, 2012 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

New Orleans hip-hop/bounce artist Big Freedia will attempt to set a Guinness World Record for twerking next week.

Starting at noon on Sept. 25, about 250 dancers are reportedly expected to twerk simultaneously for two minutes in New York’s Herald Square, near Madison Square Garden. The dance party will also promote Big Freedia’s upcoming reality show, premiering Oct. 2. on Fuse.

Pop star Miley Cyrus popularized the dance craze at the MTV Video Music Awards last month. However, Big Freedia called her twerking amateur and “offensive to black culture.” As she told Fuse in August, “Just get me and Miley together so I could give her ass some lessons.” No word yet on whether Miley will be heading down to Herald Square.
