11/12/13 has become more than a cool sequential calendar date. Apparently it’s the most romantic day of the year.
New Yorkers Shanel Manzano and Elliot Bryant had the unique opportunity to tie the knot live on The TODAY Show at 9:10 a.m. on 11/12/13. As Manzano explained the rationale for choosing that date to TODAY.com beforehand:
“The sum of 11, 12, and 13 is 9. The number 9 is also considered to be ‘lucky’ in the Chinese culture as it means long lasting. To make it even more personal, the number 12 is my lucky number while 13 is [Elliot’s] lucky number.”
David’s Bridal predicts more than 3,000 couples will marry today, based on a survey of 500 women between Nov. 16-Nov. 27, 2012. The wedding dress designers say other popular dates have been 07/07/07, 10/11/12, and 12/12/12.
Anja Winikka, site director for TheKnot, told TODAY that couples getting married today could seat guests “in groups of 11, 12, or 13 to a table” or “do a special song” when the clock strikes 11:12 p.m.
Meanwhile, couples who wed on an iconic date are celebrating their anniversaries — like Laurie and Dennis McCabbe, who married on 11/11/11, according to CBSLA.com.
But whether you have a significant other or not, everyone can “enjoy 11-12-13 today at the 14th hour, 15th minute and 16th second,” as The Orlando Sentinel put it.
And don’t worry if you forgot to plan something special for 11/12/13. You still have time to go all out for 12/13/14.
