A Belgian woman reportedly slept next to her husband’s corpse for a year after he died.
Authorities found the mummified remains of a man identified as “Marcel H”, 79, after the landlord complained that rent had not been paid since 2012, the Daily Mail reports.
Experts say the dead body went through several stages of decomposition while the woman, 69, whose name has not been released, kept it in her bed. The internal organs rotted and liquefied, which would have drawn insects and given off a pungent smell of decay. The body eventually mummified.
