The Boeing 747 jumbo jet pictured here landed Wednesday in Wichita, Kansas, but at a small airport eight miles from its intended destination, McConnell Air Force Base, also in Wichita.
Engineers gave the OK for the plane, which arrived from New York, to take off Thursday despite the shorter runway at the base.
Boeing told the Associated Press that the plane is used to haul construction parts for the new 787 Dreamliner. It’s still unclear why or how the plane took a wrong turn.
