If you’ve ever wondered how not to give a toast or dedication, the Swedish band The Hives might be able to help you out.
This week at a concert at TD Garden in Boston, The Hives’ lead singer decided to pay tribute to the victims of the Boston marathon bombing before the band’s song ‘Tick, Tick…Boom!’ But in case any audience members didn’t quite make the logical bridge in their minds between a song called ‘Tick, Tick…Boom!’ and a terrorist attack, the singer, Pelle, cleared up any confusion “This song’s for everyone in Boston. It’s about stuff blowing up.”
His heart might have been in the right place, but the poorly-worded dedication was a total flub, with attendees immediately taking to Twitter. to voice their outrage.
The Hives issued an apology on Facebook today:
Even Kanye wouldn’t do something like this…probably.
