A Wendy’s employee has been fired for admitting that a half-smoked marijuana cigarette found in a customer’s sandwich was hers.
Amy Elizabeth Sieber, 32, worked at a Wendy’s restaurant in Lovejoy, Ga, and was one of two people working when the incident occurred, the Associated Press reports. She was fired in November.
The patron, who has not been identified, had already taken a bite before she noticed the smell of the drug, according to a police report released Thursday. Sieber immediately admitted the drugs belonged to her when the police arrived. She later apologized and was fired. Wendy’s also apologized.
“Obviously the employee broke the rules and did not follow proper food handling steps,” Wendy’s spokesman Denny Lynch said.
Sieber hasn’t commented.
