Combine every adorable, choreographed proposal you’ve seen on YouTube, think of the exact opposite, and you’ll kind of come close to how Justin Harrel proposed to his girlfriend last week.
Harrel had two outstanding warrants for using fake checks, so when he was spotted in an Oklahoma park by a police officer on Dec. 13, he was immediately arrested and handcuffed. But that didn’t dissuade Harrel from the romantic plans he’d had for that afternoon. Harrel was in the park to propose to his girlfriend, and he asked the officer if he could finish the deed.
According to the Associated Press:
The officer allowed Harrel to complete the marriage proposal, and Harrel’s girlfriend eventually said yes. Harrel then asked the officer to get the engagement ring from his coat pocket and give it to her.
The officer handed the ring to the girlfriend.
It’s almost so bad that you expect Ashton Kutcher to jump out to reveal the hidden cameras. Except it was real. And she said yes. At least it was memorable…
