Turns out the state with the most people also boasts the most Yelp reviews. California food establishments captured six of the 10 spots on Yelp’s list of the most-reviewed local businesses in 2013, published yesterday. Los Angeles’s Bottega Louie tops the list, boasting a four-star rating and 7,000 reviews — which contain 1,230 mentions of their signature macarons in various colors and flavors like earl grey. The ranking also features a classic like Katz’s Delicatessen in New York and even a street corner vendor, The Halal Guys. Here’s the full list:

Yelp also announced that the user with the most reviews in 2013 is “Victor G.” of Oakland, Calif., who wrote 1,712 last year out of 7,000 total since 2007. Recently, he has reviewed Chipotle burritos (“bowl not round but oblong”), a nearby Citibank (“a plexiglass fortress”), and Eddie’s Drive in Liquors (“the name is a misnomer. it’s not a drive in. parking lot fits only 5 cars”).
