A Sarasota, Florida, man was jailed Sunday and charged with aggravated animal cruelty for pouring hot sauce on a yelping puppy.
Police responded to a report of animal cruelty and when they arrived at the scene a local woman said her boyfriend, Ephrian Myles, 47, had poured hot sauce all over her three-month-old Dachshund/Chihuahua puppy “Gizmo,” after becoming irritated by Gizmo’s yelping. Gizmo has a history of seizures and was suffering one at the time of the hot sauce incident, the woman said.
Gizmo’s eyes were swollen shut and his breath had become labored due to irritation from the hot sauce, The Tampa Tribune reports. The woman took him to a fire station where officers washed him and gave him to Animal Services. Gizmo is expected to make a full recovery.
Myles is being held on $5,000 bond.
