There’s probably a thousand hotel rooms, army cots and sofas around the world that can claim the honor, Elvis Slept Here. But there’s only one place — besides Graceland — that can say it’s where he was laid to rest. And now, for the right price, it can be yours.
After the rock icon passed away in 1977, he was briefly interred next to his mother Gladys in a private mausoleum at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn. Presley remained there for two months before being re-buried along with his mother at his home in Graceland. (Or, if you’re a firm believer that The King lives, this crypt is part of the elaborate ruse meant to shield Elvis from his fans and let him live in peace with his new alien friends, or perhaps in Las Vegas.)

Now, Beverly Hills-based auctioneer Darren Julien is selling the rock n’ roller’s now-empty crypt to the highest bidder as part of his “Music Icons” auction, scheduled for June 23 and 24. Julien has said the lot for sale includes the crypt, opening and closing of the vault for burial, memorial inscription and use of a small chapel for a memorial service.

Other items in the auction include a ripped t-shirt with “Hell” scrawled across it, once worn by the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards; a robe that Amy Winehouse used in her video for smash hit “Rehab”; and memorabilia and clothing owned by David Bowie, John Lennon and Michael Jackson. Still, all eyes and bid paddles are focused on Elvis’ tomb; bidding will start at $100,000. After all, if you are looking for a present for the Elvis fan who has everything, remember: they still can’t take it with them.
