Jia Jiang wanted to be turned down flat. Jiang, a 31-year-old Austin, Texas tech entrepreneur, is on a mission to inure himself to the sometimes devastating effects of rejection by getting rejected 100 days in a row by making “crazy requests” of strangers that are bound to be denied. He is documenting his failures on his blog, 100 Days of Rejection Therapy. So when Jiang walked into a Krispy Kreme in Austin and asked for five doughnuts linked together in the colors and shape of the Olympic rings, he fully expected to be shown the door. Instead, he got exactly what he asked for. And it was all captured on a video that has now gone viral.

Jiang made his unusual request to Jackie Braun, a shift leader at the Krispy Kreme, and gave her a time frame of just 15 minutes. Braun went into the back room and returned 15 minutes later with his completed request. However, Braun wasn’t satisfied with the results she was able to produce within such a limited time frame, so she gave Jiang the doughnuts for free. “It wasn’t exactly what he wanted,” Braun told Yahoo News. “To my eyes, it wasn’t perfect, so I didn’t think I should charge him for it. It was the best I could do in the time allotted.”
“I was overwhelmed, I couldn’t believe it,” Jiang said in an interview with Yahoo news. “I went home and tweeted to Krispy Kreme and blogged about it. I wanted the world to know about what she did.” Jiang didn’t get his rejection, but he’s not dwelling on it. “It’s only my third day and I have already failed,” Jiang wrote on his 100 Days of Rejection Therapy blog. “But I did so with such amazement and happiness.”
