You know that nerve-racking moment when you arrive at your local McDonald’s eatery and you’re so incredibly hungry that you want practically everything on the menu, but don’t want to go through the hassle of requesting each item individually? Good news: you have one less thing to worry about.
McDonald’s introduced the Blitz Box to the Kansas City, Mo., market on Sept. 2, tied to a promotion with the city’s NFL team, the Chiefs. The plus-size meal — which is meant to feed two or more — contains two Quarter Pounders with cheese, 10 Chicken McNuggets and two medium fries for just $14.99 (and 2,940 calories!).

This promotion, which is slated to run through the end of the football season, is the fast-food giant’s first attempt at a box meal in the U.S., but McDonald’s has been exploring the large-scale approach on the international market since as early as 2010. If the program is a success, there’s little reason to believe it won’t be expanded beyond the Kansas City market and well into 2014 as the fast-food industry attempts to boost stagnant sales.
So the next time you’re driving through Kansas City and have a hankering for, well, just about everything, you’ll know just where to turn. No word yet on how this will impact the growing potato-party fad.
