The comedy world lost a cultural icon yesterday, as Leslie Nielsen, star of the Airplane and Naked Gun movies, died at his home on Florida on Sunday at the age of 84. He had been suffering complications from pneumonia.
A genius of deadpan delivery, Nielsen played in straight through the over-the-top worlds of both ’80s franchises as only a Canuck gone to Hollywood could do.
