Did life really just imitate art? Because if you loved Bill Murray singing his heart out in Lost In Translation — and who didn’t? — then imagine hearing the knock on the door at a karaoke room in New York to see the actor ready to do it for real.
Humor website the Chive has the exclusive on Murray supposedly being invited, along with his date, to join proceedings at Karaoke One in New York. Not only did he accept but he stayed for the entire evening, bought the drinks, and sang Elvis’ “Marie’s the Name.”

One of the Chive’s readers, Mike, was there and takes up the tale. “About 15 minutes later we get a knock on the door … IT’S BILL F@#KING MURRAY! We were all shocked of course but at that point we were already pretty trashed so the party just kept going. He was super nice and they all fit right in. His girl was really cute, and as far as i remember, from Amsterdam. She sang a bunch of random French songs!”

NewsFeed is happy to believe that this is all on the level but does note that the Chive has a habit for pulling hoaxes (see more here) but if any actor was going to be a good sport and do something of this nature, Bill Murray would certainly be on a very short list. And in case video never appears of what seems like a magical New York night, we can console ourselves that we’ll always have Tokyo…
