Not that today is any more generally significant than yesterday, two weeks ago or six months ago, but for those who get into binary dates, this marks one of a few rare days on their cool calendar.
Today, Jan. 11, 2011 marks the second day this year in which the date is denoted numerically by the number 1, and the third in which is denoted binarically by 0 and 1, based on both mm/dd/yy, and dd/mm/yy configurations. Dates like this actually happen quite rarely and there are only a total of 12 days this year between January 1, and November 11 that this will occur.
Honestly, NewsFeed doesn’t spend a whole lot of time thinking about things like this, but math whizzes like the folks at ExploringBinary.com do, plus a bunch of other head-scratching mathematical issues as well.
But as they also note, this number, in the grand scheme of things is nowhere near as important as the number 42, which answers the great question of Life, The Universe and Everything.
