Somehow we don’t think this will catch on quite like Facebook did.
Mark Zuckerberg has announced on — where else? — his social networking site that he’s now going to only eat animals that he has personally killed. Apparently, Zuck likes to set a new challenge for himself each year and killing animals was this year’s lucky winner.

Posting “I just killed a pig and a goat.” to his personal Facebook page, Zuckerberg attracted a lot of attention and was quick to explain his new project. In a letter to Fortune, Zuckerberg explained how he’d come to the idea:
“I started thinking about this last year when I had a pig roast at my house. A bunch of people told me that even though they loved eating pork, they really didn’t want to think about the fact that the pig used to be alive. That just seemed irresponsible to me. I don’t have an issue with anything people choose to eat, but I do think they should take responsibility and be thankful for what they eat rather than trying to ignore where it came from.”
So a chef who lives near Zuckerberg in Palo Alto introduced him to nearby farmers, who instructed him on how to properly kill the animals. (They are then sent to butcher and back again.) Fortune reports that Zuckerberg won’t even eat meat in restaurants now, choosing instead to eat vegetarian meals while out. But we guess that sort of dedication from one of the youngest billionaires on the planet shouldn’t be that surprising.
