The news came down late Tuesday in the Windy City: Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is guilty of lying to federal agents, but the judge overseeing the case will be declaring a mistrial on the 23 outstanding verdicts that did not receive a unanimous decision. So what now? (via MSNBC)

After 14 days of deliberating – and one formal request for a copy of the oath they swore to before entering deliberations – the jurors brought back their decision (and non-decisions) Tuesday afternoon. The U.S. attorneys working the case promptly announced plans to retry the 23 counts against Blagojevich “as quickly as possible.” (See our photos of the remarkable, inimitable world of Rod Blagojevich)

The judge set an Aug. 26 date for a hearing to decide the timing of the retrial.
