Step one is very complicated: Buy some green beans.

Green bean casserole, that holiday season simulacrum of a heathy side dish, celebrates its 55th anniversary this Thankgiving. Though HuffPo informs us that the dish was born out of a craven plan by Campbell’s to sell more cream of mushroom soup, we love it anyway! In honor of its beany goodness, we went on YouTube and found the most appetizingly messy recipe videos we could find:

We love the traditional green bean casserole recipe, but there’s one comfort food element missing from it: cheese! As Oscar Wilde once said, “Om nom nom nom.”

NewsFeed is spending Thanksgiving with our families this year, but we’ve seen our future, and it definitely involves having to cook a lonely holiday dinner for ourselves at least once. We generally turn to Dr. Steve Brule for all our living-alone advice, but we’ll keep the fine guys at the ACFG Cooking Shops in mind the next time we can’t think of a reason to get out of bed in the morning.

Readers, what do you think? Do you have a better recipe we have forgotten?
