Crime doesn’t pay, but it can shoot back.

Police say 16-year-old Clifton Chatman’s death is the result of a botched Dec. 14 robbery near a public housing complex in San Francisco’s Bernal Heights neighborhood. In the attempted mugging, the teen and three accomplices ambushed a man and demanded his cell phone and other belongings.

The victim complied and the robbers began to rummage through the loot, but one of them pulled out a handgun and fired at the man. But then the round struck the man’s face, ricocheted and struck Chapman, killing him on the spot.

The other suspects fled the scene and when police arrived, the found the robbery victim, and Chatman, who was identified later.

Last week, police arrested a 16-year-old suspect in connection with the robbery, but they did not say whether or not he was the shooter, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The robbery victim was hospitalized and survived his injuries, police said.

Google images confirms the tale. Next thing to find out is if anybody saw anything.

I don't believe this story is true.

The media likes to play one side against the other. No known race of the robbers. Unknown race for the victim in this case. It's funny how the media picks and choose certain individuals of any race period to demonize at their own whim. We've entered the age of puppet media at it's pinnacle. People should shun media outlets as a whole none of them can be trusted to have  a shred of integrity.

@ccopeland48 What a strange comment to make. I, as most people probably did, read the article due to the fact that a bullet bouncing off a person's face is astounding, and wanted more details. And you come on with a tirade against the midia?

i didn't believe in a supreme being, until this story. i hope this supreme being shows more of his/her presence at all corners of the world.

@chinaman03  While this is an interesting and unusual thing to happen, it's hardly evidence for the supernatural.

No bullet can bounce off the face of a man, it cannot happen.  The like has never even happened on the Three Stooges, for I have seen every episode.

@LordBoy It's not likely that the bullet "bounced" off the face of the robbery victim's face from a direct shot.  At the correct angle, it could have glanced off the robbery victim's face, like the cheek bone, and the angle of deflection was *just right* to hit one of the muggers.  Something doesn't have to be probable to be possible.

@LordBoy It may have been a glancing hit across the skull or teeth.  Ricochets don't often have enough force to be dangerous but at a wide angle it would have bounced more easily and had greater penetration when contacting the second individual.
