Somewhere, an English MFA program is getting ready to offer the course “Introduction to Satirical Twitter Account Craft.”

You have to get up pretty early in the morning to get a meme past the people who make satirical Twitter accounts. The news of the much-loathed new Gap logo just went up yesterday and already there are dueling Twitters about it.

The first @GapLogo went up Tuesday night (tagline: “I have feelings too, jerks”) and is full of aggressively defensive tweets in favor the the rebranding. Some of its best:

The square fades like our jeans! I kid, I kid. Cold water! Tumble dry!

Please send all new logo designs to: Chief Oyinbolowo Eko, Lagos, Nigera along with a Western Union money order for $8,500.

In other news: I’ve invaded Poland and eat little children. Just kidding – we haven’t invaded Poland. Yet. Pierogis, anyone?

Thought we had questionable labor practices before? Now we’re going to exploit designers! Upton Sinclair would be proud.

Not to be outdone, the classic Gap logo got in the Twitter business as well, at @OldGapLogo. Some of its sad-sack tweets:

Update: In the middle of the night, I was moved to a large windowless conference room fulled with Old Navy mannequins. Send help now.

@OldGapLogo 152 followers @GapLogo 2473 followers. I guess that explains Ashton Kutcher

gaplogo wishes it was friday.

As a final word, FastCoDesign has a Twitter interview with the new Gap logo, because that is where we are now. (Still, if you ignore that, the whole thing is fun! Good clean fun!)
