Congrats to Mariah Carey and her husband, Nick Cannon. But get this: the first people to be told the happy news? Only President Obama and the First Lady!
Cannon let the world know Thursday on his radio show. But he also revealed that Carey let it slip to an even better known couple, who our friends at The Page would call POTUS and FLOTUS. And props to the Obamas, who apparently asked Carey backstage, at a charity event in Washington last weekend, about reports that she’s expecting twins (we know what you’re thinking: how the heck does the world’s most powerful person have time to keep up on celebrity gossip?)

Cannon told his listeners, “At this point she hadn’t told anybody anything because doctors advised us to keep it ourselves until we get further along in the pregnancy. But because of the excitement, she was overwhelmed and she shared with the President and First Lady that we are having twins.” And Cannon confessed on air that, “I haven’t even told my wife I was doing this, so I am probably going to get yelled at for not getting permission.”

As for Carey, who is due to give birth in the Spring, the Grammy-winning singer is no doubt reveling in the irony that the mother-to-be can’t even keep mum. May the twins be her greatest hits to date. (via Reuters)
